As the year begins, it is necessary to set the tone for the year by being intentional about personal and career development. To achieve the most,  goals should be set as it helps build motivation and ensure focus on your acquisition of knowledge.

Setting clearly defined goals helps eliminate distractions and maximize time and resources.

The first step to setting/achieving goals is to consider what you want, for example, get a professional certificate, brush up on your skill.

Determine what level you want to attain; if there is a skill you wish to acquire. Spend time brainstorming, then select what goal is more important to you.

Create smaller goals that can help you achieve them, make a to-do list of things you should do daily, and work towards them.

All goals should be SMART;

SPECIFIC

MEASURABLE

ACHIEVABLE

RELEVANT

TIME BOUND

 

TIPS ON HOW TO SET GOALS FOR THE YEAR.

Be Specific: Attach date and time so that you can measure achievements, as it helps you know at what pace you’re moving towards achieving your goals.

Set Priorities:  Determine what goal is most important to you, this helps avoid feeling overwhelmed and helps direct your attention to what is most important.

Write Down Your Goals:  This crystallizes them and gives them force.

Set Realistic Goals: Avoid unnecessary pressure by setting goals that seem far fetched, ensure that your goals can be actualized in the period allocated for it.
